Yemeni forces say strategic port city has been recaptured

Yemen’s government forces say they have recaptured the strategic port city of Mokha on the Red Sea from the Iran-backed Houthis and have simultaneously launched an offensive against the capital, Sanaa.

CNBC has been unable to verify the reports, which the Houthis are reported to have denied.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan have meanwhile agreed to deploy forces and activate joint deterrence measures following attacks on two Saudi airports, CNBC reports.

Oil prices fell slightly on Tuesday, with Brent just below 99 dollars per barrel, but the market remains concerned about new supply disruptions in the Middle East.
