German automotive giants Volkswagen and Audi are recalling around 2.86 million vehicles globally due to a bolt that may break and, in the worst case, cause steering failure. Bloomberg News reports this, citing the German Federal Motor Transport Authority KBA.
The recall covers approximately 2.16 million Volkswagen Golf, Golf Variant, Tiguan, Touran and Caddy vehicles as well as around 696,500 Audi Q3 vehicles, manufactured between 2013 and 2024.
The bolt will be replaced with a more corrosion-resistant variant. No known personal injuries or property damage have been linked to the defect.
