The European Commission is extending the deadline by 20 working days to 9 December for UPM-Kymmene and Sappi to propose remedies regarding their paper joint venture, valued at EUR 1.42 billion.
The companies are planning remedies but no divestments.
The Commission fears that the transaction, which would create Europe’s largest player, could limit competition in several types of communication paper.
