Toys R Us leaves Japan after several years of losses – Nikkei Asia

Toy retailer Toys R Us is leaving the Japanese market after 35 years, Nikkei Asia reports. The exit could take place as early as the turn of the year and comes after several years of losses.

The operator behind discount chain Donki will, according to the newspaper, acquire all approximately 150 Toys R Us stores in Japan.

Toys R Us has faced an increasingly challenging market in the country, where declining birth rates have weighed on demand.
