Swedes bought more food in 2025 despite higher prices – SCB

Sales of food and beverages in Sweden increased 7.1 percent to SEK 430 billion during 2025, according to SCB. Volumes also rose despite higher prices. Per person, sales increased 6.7 percent to SEK 42,027.

Most money was spent on dairy products and eggs, SEK 5,449 per person. Fruits and nuts had the largest percentage increase, 13.6 percent. Non-alcoholic beverages increased 11.1 percent, while alcohol sales rose 1.6 percent.
