Forestry company Stora Enso plans to concentrate production of corrugated packaging in Finland in Lahti and permanently close the production unit in Kristinestad. Finnish media report this, citing a press release.
The plans entail change negotiations affecting around 50 people. Any potential closure would take place between May and September next year, while sales, customer service and warehousing would remain in Kristinestad.
Stora Enso cites a challenging market situation, high fixed costs and the need for significant investments in production equipment. The aim is to improve efficiency, profitability and long-term competitiveness.
Stora Enso Packaging has around 320 employees in Lahti and Kristinestad.
