German smelting giant Aurubis is raising its premium for refined copper to a record-high 347 dollars per ton in 2027, an increase of 10 percent from 315 dollars this year. Reuters reports this, citing three market sources.
The premium is added on top of the copper price on the London Metal Exchange.
Aurubis has declined to comment on the level but expects strong demand in 2027, driven by the expansion of AI data centers, electric vehicles and renewable energy.
