Sources: Amazon and Flipkart scrutinize unauthorized surveillance cameras in India – Reuters

Amazon and Walmart’s Flipkart are scrutinizing surveillance cameras sold on their platforms in India after hundreds of models lacking government approval were found. Reuters reports, citing sources.

Reuters’ analysis showed that more than 700 of around 770 listed internet-connected cameras were missing from the Indian standards authority’s database of approved products.

Since April, manufacturers have been required to have hardware and software tested and certified before sale, partly due to concerns about cybersecurity and espionage.

At least a dozen listings have been removed since Tuesday.
