Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are requesting around SEK 5 billion in EU support to quickly strengthen their drone defenses against the backdrop of the threat from Russia. Iltalehti reports this, citing sources who have seen a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The countries hope to receive a decision within a few weeks and additional funding as early as this year. According to the information, the need is considered acute due to the risk of Russian drone attacks against NATO’s eastern flank.
