US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer’s Elrexfio (elranatamab) has achieved the primary efficacy endpoint in the phase 3 MagnetisMM-32 study in the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. This is stated in a press release.
The study includes adult patients who had previously received at least one line of treatment with anti-CD38 therapy and lenalidomide. Elrexfio was evaluated as monotherapy against three different established treatment combinations.
The treatment showed a statistically significant improvement in progression-free survival compared with established treatment options. More than 75 percent of the patients who received Elrexfio had not experienced disease progression or death at the time of analysis. The estimated progression-free survival at 18 months was 68 percent.
The safety profile was consistent with previous results and no new safety signals were identified. Pfizer plans to submit the results to regulatory authorities globally.
