US biotech company Moderna is establishing a chief operating officer role as the company scales up in oncology.
Juan Andres returns and takes up the position on October 5, with responsibility for, among other things, manufacturing. He will report to CEO Stéphane Bancel. At the same time, Jerh Collins, head of technical operations and quality, is retiring.
The change comes ahead of a potential launch of the cancer treatment intismeran autogene following positive Phase 3 results. The treatment is being developed together with Merck.
Moderna has also expanded its infectious disease portfolio to five approved vaccines.
