Mastercard launches payment platform for traditional currencies and stablecoins

Payment giant Mastercard is launching Global Money Platform, a new payment platform that combines traditional currencies with stablecoins. The platform is based on technology from BVNK, which Mastercard acquired in August. This is stated in a press release.

The service is aimed at banks, fintech companies and businesses and makes it possible to manage accounts in multiple currencies, conduct real-time currency exchange and make international payments via a single application programming interface.

Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Beem and Almond Fintech are among the first players set to integrate the platform.

The platform also integrates Mastercard Move, which enables users to make local bank payouts using stablecoins as a funding source. Coverage is expected to expand during 2027 to more than 40 currencies in over 200 countries and territories. Card issuance will simultaneously be offered in over 130 countries.

The platform is available as of today via BVNK.
