The clothing chain Kappahl will shortly begin negotiations on a reorganization in some of its Swedish stores. Preliminary estimates indicate that 100 of the company’s 160 stores in Sweden will be affected, according to a press release.
Union negotiations will begin gradually during the autumn, and it is therefore not yet clear how many may be affected. Broadly, the proposal involves adjusting store staffing to customers’ changing visit patterns and purchasing behavior. The current assessment is that all stores will remain, while the group is also investing in, among other things, a new logistics center, digital development and a new business system.
In spring 2026, Kappahl carried out a restructuring at its head office, where 30 people left the company.
The group has around 350 Kappahl and Newbie stores in Sweden, Norway, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, Iceland and the United Kingdom, as well as online in more than 30 markets in Europe and Asia. Kappahl is part of Mellby Gård, which is owned by the Andersson family.
