JP Morgan: Weight-loss drug market could reach 22 billion dollars in three growth markets

The weight-loss drug market in China, India and Brazil is expected to grow from today’s 6.6 billion dollars to 22 billion dollars by 2035, corresponding to annual growth of 15 percent. Reuters reports this, citing an analysis by JP Morgan.

The growth is being driven by lower prices, increased availability and large patient groups with diabetes and obesity. China is expected to overtake Brazil as the largest market in 2027 and reach 13.7 billion dollars in 2035, compared with 8 billion dollars for Brazil.

The use of GLP-1 drugs remains low in China and India, where less than 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent of the population, respectively, use the drugs, compared with 4-5 percent in the US.

JP Morgan highlights Innovent, Divi’s Laboratories, Torrent Pharmaceuticals and RD Saude as stocks with exposure to the growing market.
