Airline Jetblues Airways’ stock is surging on Nasdaq on Tuesday, after promises that the company will be profitable next year. The indebted airline is working to address persistent losses and high oil prices, with the aim of avoiding a more extensive restructuring, Bloomberg News reports.
In its third-quarter report, CEO Joanna Geraghty confirmed the company’s assessment that it will achieve operating profitability in 2027, as well as earnings per share of at least 1 dollar and positive free cash flow in 2028.
“Despite significant headwinds in the form of fuel costs and a challenging summer operation, our revenue performance is among the strongest in the industry,” Geraghty told analysts during a conference call on Tuesday.
She added that Jetblue has “several avenues” for strengthening liquidity, such as aircraft financing, to secure the company’s position through 2028.
Jetblue’s stock is currently up 20.5 percent. However, the gain comes from a record low level on Monday, ahead of the interim report.
