State-owned property company Jernhusen’s CEO Biljana Pehrsson sees continued growing demand for stations and train depots, driven by increased rail travel and investments in new trains. She says this in an interview on the Kvartalet podcast.
The company has acquired an office property in Sävenäs in Gothenburg to enable future expansion of the adjacent depot. At the same time, Jernhusen plans to dispose of additional residential development rights, including in Kirseberg in Malmö, as well as depot properties that are no longer used for railway operations, she further says.
On the projects side, development of a new depot in Arlöv is continuing, where site preparation work has begun. In Gothenburg, new station facilities are being completed in connection with the opening of Västlänken in December.
Pehrsson also says that the Centralstaden development project in Stockholm is continuing following the government’s decision to let the Swedish Transport Administration analyze future capacity needs.
