Japan Airlines, JAL, has placed a firm order for 16 Embraer E190-E2 aircraft and has options for a further ten aircraft. Deliveries are due to begin in fiscal year 2029.
The aircraft will replace the Embraer E170 and E190 in regional airline J-Air’s fleet. J-Air operates domestic routes in Japan, with Osaka Itami as its main base.
JAL highlights the E190-E2’s improved fuel efficiency, lower carbon dioxide emissions and noise levels, as well as lower maintenance costs compared with previous generations. The model has a standard capacity of 97–114 passengers.
