Industrial profits in China increased year-on-year in September (update)

(more information)

Industrial profits in China increased year-on-year in September.

Year-on-year, industrial profits rose 14.4 percent (+4.2).

The outcome represents the strongest growth rate since June.

The development was mainly driven by strong demand in artificial intelligence, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing.

Over the first nine months of the year, industrial profits increased by 15.5 percent, with higher commodity prices among other factors benefiting mining and materials producers.

At the same time, the development is uneven. Weak domestic consumption and a property market that remains under pressure are weighing on consumer-oriented industries. According to economists, strong exports and growth in the technology sector cannot fully offset weakness in domestic demand, CNBC reports.
