Norwegian biometrics company Idex Biometrics reported preliminary revenue of approximately NOK 6.6 million in the third quarter, compared with NOK 1.6 million in the previous quarter. The outcome was lower than the previously indicated figure of more than NOK 8.5 million, as deliveries were postponed until October.
At the same time, the company received its largest order to date within Idex Access, worth more than USD 450,000. The order covers complete Access cards for customers in the energy and retail sectors in Europe and APAC, with deliveries starting in the fourth quarter. Complete cards have higher average selling prices and gross margins than sensors alone.
The order backlog of NOK 23.7 million at the end of the second quarter is unchanged and is to be delivered during the second half of the year. Idex reiterates its outlook for the half-year and expects more orders in the fourth quarter. The launch with the company’s first Indian banking customer is now expected to take place in the fourth quarter following a technical delay at the customer.
