Hyundai Motor’s Genesis production line at the factory in Ulsan, South Korea, remained idle on Monday evening following a dispute over staffing ahead of upcoming car models.
Union representatives held a meeting without reaching a solution, Korea Herald reports, citing industry sources.
The stoppage began on Monday morning when union representatives prevented a test car of the Genesis G80 hybrid model from being brought onto the assembly line. Hyundai has announced that the no-work, no-pay principle will be applied to the entire production unit, which comprises around 800 unionized employees.
The production stoppage was expected to continue at least until the end of the night shift.
