The Federal Reserve plans to overhaul the supervision of US banks by creating five geographic regions, each headed by a regional director. Reuters reports.
The new directors will be responsible for all supervisory activities, which will continue to be carried out by staff at the regional Fed banks. Under the current model, responsibility for overseeing supervision lies with the heads of the Fed’s twelve regional banks.
