The US telecommunications regulator FCC has completed its review and approved Amazon Leo’s acquisition of Globalstar for USD 11.5 billion.
The decision covers approximately 25 megahertz of satellite spectrum.
The deal is expected to strengthen Amazon’s competitiveness in direct satellite-to-mobile phone communications and improve coverage and emergency communications in areas with poor connectivity.
FCC assesses that the deal does not entail any significant disadvantages for the public interest.
