European stock exchanges rise ahead of the close, Stoxx 600 index up 0.4 percent

The leading European stock exchanges are rising ahead of Tuesday’s close. Support comes from lower interest rates and a decline in the oil price.

The broad European Stoxx 600 index was up 0,37 percent at 635,96 at 16.15. During the day, the index has traded within a range of 0,16 percent at its lowest and 1,07 percent at its highest.

By sector, media is performing best, up 1,22 percent, while banks are recording the second-best performance, up 1,15 percent.

Telecommunications is performing worst, down 0,56 percent, while basic resources are recording the second-weakest performance, down 0,23 percent.

Private equity firm CVC Capital Partners and investment company GBL,Groupe Bruxelles Lambert, are raising their bid for Italian pharmaceutical company Recordati to 53 euros per share, from the previous 51,29 euros. The new bid values Recordati at 10,5 billion euros, equivalent to 118 billion kronor. Recordati’s share is rising 1,4 percent and is trading just below the increased offer price.

Danish pharmaceutical company Genmab, together with US-based Abbvie, reports positive topline results from a phase 3 study of Epkinly in previously untreated patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, DLBCL. Several analyst firms have issued positive comments following the announcement. Genmab’s share is climbing 4,3 percent.

Norwegian aluminium producer Norsk Hydro estimates that the additional cost of natural gas at the Alunorte alumina refinery will be 90–110 million dollars during the fourth quarter of 2026, as a result of the difference between the contract price and the market price. The share is falling 2,2 percent.

Demand for AI infrastructure remains strong and data centers could be built twice as quickly if it were not for limited availability of, among other things, memory chips and energy. Nokia CEO CEO Justin Hotard said this in an interview with CNBC. Hotard therefore believes that the AI build-out is still at an early stage. Nokia’s share is rising 2,5 percent.

Norwegian major bank DNB is carrying out a major reorganisation within Technology & Services, T&S, which involves reducing the workforce by 400 full-time positions. The changes are taking place in conjunction with increased investments in technology, AI and digital solutions. The share is up 0,8 percent.

Danish shipping company D/S Norden is raising its full-year 2026 guidance. The company now forecasts net profit of 180-230 million dollars, compared with the previous 140-190 million dollars. The share is rising 2,4 percent.
