Euro pressured by French debt concerns – falls against dollar and yen

The euro weakened on Friday and was heading for a weekly decline against both the dollar and the yen. Concerns about France’s public finances have driven the country’s risk premium on government debt to its highest level since the euro crisis in 2011, Reuters reports.

France is also awaiting a credit rating decision from Moody’s and is preparing extensive police operations ahead of this weekend’s protests.

The euro fell 0.12 percent to 1.12 dollars and was heading for a weekly decline of 0.35 percent. Against the yen, the currency fell 0.31 percent, with a weekly decline of 1.3 percent expected.
