EU ambassadors have agreed to extend sanctions against around 3,000 Russia-linked individuals and organizations for three years.
At the same time, billionaires Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman are being removed from the sanctions list, Reuters reports, citing EU diplomats.
The decision came after protracted negotiations in which Latvia was the last country to oppose the agreement.
France had demanded that Usmanov be removed, citing national security interests, while Luxembourg had made a corresponding demand for Fridman, who has filed a $16 billion claim against the country.
