EU Commission blocks 26 million euro in aid to Polish MAN Trucks

The European Commission has determined that Poland’s planned investment aid of approximately 26 million euro, equivalent to 116 million zloty, to MAN Trucks contravenes the EU’s state aid rules. The aid may therefore not be paid out.

The aid was intended for a capacity expansion at MAN Trucks’ plant in Niepołomice in the Małopolskie region.

Following an in-depth investigation, the Commission concluded that Poland had been unable to demonstrate that the aid was decisive in locating the investment in the country or that the aid amount was the minimum necessary.

The Commission therefore considers that the aid lacked sufficient incentive effect and was not proportionate.
