Eli Lilly takes one-third of new patients in the GLP-1 tablet market, according to CEO – CNBC

Eli Lilly’s GLP-1 tablet Foundayo accounts for around one-third of new patients in the US market for oral GLP-1 drugs, according to CEO Dave Ricks. He told CNBC. Foundayo was launched in the US in April and generated sales of $98 million in the second quarter, its first full quarter on the market.

The company has also begun construction of a $6.5 billion manufacturing facility in Houston, which will, among other things, produce the active ingredient in Foundayo and other drugs. The plant is expected to be operational by 2030 at the latest.

The facility is part of Eli Lilly’s efforts to expand production in the US. Since 2020, the company has committed to investments of more than $50 billion in its manufacturing network, of which $27 billion was announced for four new US plants in 2025.

Eli Lilly said in August that the company held around 61 percent of the total GLP-1 market in the second quarter.
