The Left Party is expected to back the Tidö parties’ candidate for Speaker, Andreas Norlén, on Monday, according to information obtained by Sveriges Radio’s Ekot.
A Left Party member tells Ekot that there are ”strong substantive reasons to let the current Speaker remain in office.
Parliament opens on Monday, and a new Speaker will also be elected. It is still unclear which candidate the Social Democrats intend to nominate.
The Social Democrats’ group leader Lena Hallengren previously said that the new Speaker elected should be a Social Democrat because the S is “by far the largest party” and that the principle “has always been that parties are ranked by size”, Aftonbladet writes.
