China’s Ming Yang Smart Energy and Envision are considering partnerships with European companies to establish local manufacturing and enter the European wind turbine market. Bloomberg News reports this following interviews with company executives.
Envision says that joint ventures are an option and suggests that talks may have begun, while Ming Yang is actively considering the model but primarily wants to build its own factory.
Chinese manufacturers have so far struggled to win major projects in Western Europe, where Vestas, Siemens Energy and Nordex dominate. Earlier this year, the United Kingdom halted Ming Yang’s planned 1.5 billion pound investment in a Scottish factory, citing security concerns.
