China seeks to strengthen stock market stability

China’s government wants to improve the mechanisms for stabilizing the capital markets and make the stock market more resilient. Bloomberg News reports this, citing state broadcaster CCTV, following a government meeting led by Premier Li Qiang on Friday.

The statement comes after the authorities reinstated support measures to stem the stock market decline.

China’s large-cap CSI 300 index fell 8.5 percent in October, its weakest monthly performance in more than a decade.

The government also called for continued efforts to address risks linked to local government debt and smaller financial institutions, as well as measures to strengthen investment, consumption and domestic demand.
