Broadcom has agreed to lend up to $42 billion to AI company Anthropic to finance infrastructure investments. Reuters reports this, citing Anthropic’s IPO prospectus.
The financing could cover around one-third of Anthropic’s five-year commitment of $125.2 billion to rent TPU capacity. The debt instruments could be converted into shares in Anthropic.
Anthropic also states that Broadcom’s dual roles as supplier and financier entail potential conflicts of interest. Anthropic is expected to become Broadcom’s largest computing customer in 2027.
