Breakit: Founders leave luxury clinic Sand Clinic

The two Spotify billionaires Daniel Ek and Martin Lortentzon have together poured money into the exclusive healthcare facility Sand Clinic, which has so far lost more than SEK 100 million.

Breakit now reports that the two founders, Anna Levander and Jennie Sandqvist, have left the business and sold all their shares. Levander and Sandqvist confirm that they have left, but do not wish to comment further due to confidentiality agreements. They do claim, however, that the clinic has developed as expected.

Sand Clinic has been described as a luxury clinic for some of Sweden’s wealthiest people. A subscription has cost several hundred thousand kronor per year, but in return customers have received virtually unlimited access to top-class doctors, personal trainers and therapists.

According to Breakit’s sources, the clinic currently has just under 200 customers and the company has struggled to make the finances work. Leo Saucedo, who was previously a senior executive at Acast, has taken over as CEO of Sand Clinic.
