The food delivery company Doordash has agreed to a settlement with the City of New York worth $131.5 million following allegations of underpayments and delayed payments to food couriers.
Of the amount, $12.3 million will go to around 264,000 couriers who were paid too little or too late, while $83 million concerns a dispute over how working time between deliveries should be calculated. The remaining amount relates to fines.
Doordash says that technical problems and complicated deliveries were behind many of the errors and has apologized to the affected couriers.
