The new streetscape in Bibliotekstan in central Stockholm was inaugurated on Tuesday. Some of Stockholm’s most frequented pedestrian streets have been given a new design with a more cohesive and accessible layout. The project was carried out in collaboration between the City of Stockholm and the property owners in the area, including Hufvudstaden. This is stated in a press release.
Jakobsbergsgatan and Mäster Samuelsgatan have been given a smoother walking surface without changes in elevation, making it clearer that pedestrians have priority. The project also includes expanded ground heating and improved stormwater management.
The construction project started in August 2025 and was carried out together with the City of Stockholm, Alecta Fastigheter, Vasakronan, Nordstjernan, SEB Trygg Liv and Hufvudstaden.
