Online pharmacy Meds Apotek reports lower revenue and adjusted operating profit in the third quarter compared with the same period the previous year.
Revenue fell 5.9 percent to SEK 233.9 million (248.6).
Adjusted operating profit amounted to SEK 1.1 million (4.9), with an adjusted operating margin of 0.5 percent (2.0).
Operating profit was SEK -4.9 million (-5.7).
Net profit amounted to SEK -4.9 million (-5.8).
Earnings per share amounted to SEK -0.26 (-0.33).
CEO Björn Thorngren says that the quarter was marked by the move to the new logistics center in Eskilstuna. Training new staff took longer than expected, which affected both capacity and sales more than the company had previously anticipated.
Delivery times normalized during October. In the fourth quarter, the company is prioritizing stabilizing and optimizing operations ahead of next year.
“The pharmacy market continues to grow and we see clear signs of a return to discipline in the industry, with several players now prioritizing profitability over volume. State-owned Apoteket AB has declared that its e-commerce operation, launched in 2006, is now profitable. This is positive for market dynamics and benefits above all players with healthy order economics and scalable logistics. Meds is well positioned in that regard,” he writes.
