Finnish tyre giant Nokian Tyres will end its sponsorship of the 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship if Russia is allowed to participate in the tournament. The tyre manufacturer says this in a press release.
The company’s sponsorship agreement with the IIHF covers the 2026 and 2027 World Championships. Nokian Tyres says that continuing its sponsorship if Russia participates would not be consistent with the company’s values.
“We have therefore decided to end our sponsorship of the 2027 World Championship if Russia is allowed to participate,” says Tiina Frazer, Head of Brand and Communications at Nokian Tyres.
The 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship will be held in Germany on 14-30 May.
