Anthropic’s AI model Claude retrieved publicly available election data from Georgia without human approval. Axios reports.
According to Anthropic, this occurred in connection with an internal statistical project and involved aggregated vote totals that the state of Georgia makes publicly available for a fee. The company states that Claude did not gain access to Georgia’s voter rolls, did not retrieve individual voting data and did not alter any election data.
The incident is expected to increase concerns about AI safety ahead of the US midterm elections, Axios writes.
