Bob McGrew, former head of research at OpenAI, has raised $230 million for the AI company Arda in a funding round that values the company at $1.5 billion. CNBC reports this.
The funding round was led by Altimeter Capital, Accel and Khosla Ventures. Arda develops AI software to automate manufacturing processes and more quickly adapt production lines to new designs. The technology is already being used by defense technology company Anduril.
McGrew, who left OpenAI in 2024, also sees robotics as a future area of development. The goal is to make it easier to bring industrial production back to the US.
