Technology giant Apple has asked a federal judge in San Diego to overturn a patent ruling ordering the company to pay $5.7 billion to Taction Technology. Reuters reports this.
A jury ruled on September 25 that Apple’s Taptic Engine vibration motor in the iPhone and Apple Watch infringes two of Taction’s patents. Apple believes the ruling is completely unsupported by the evidence. The damages award is the largest in a US patent case to date.
