Henrik Frandsen of Moderaterne has been elected speaker of the Danish Parliament and succeeds Søren Gade. DR reports this.
The election took place despite the supporting party Alternativet withdrawing its support, citing Frandsen’s role in a real estate deal in 2019. The government nevertheless secured a majority through continued support from Enhedslisten.
