Iran’s oil loadings fell to zero in September

Iran loaded no crude oil onto tankers in September, compared with around 250,000 barrels per day in August, as the US naval blockade limits the country’s access to energy markets. Bloomberg reports this, citing preliminary data from vessel tracking. Data providers Kpler and Vortexa also recorded zero loadings during the month.

At the same time, Iran continued to deliver oil to certain Chinese refineries from floating storage east of Singapore. However, these stocks risk running out without new deliveries.

The data is based on satellite images and is preliminary, as Iranian tankers often begin transmitting position signals only long after they have left Iranian waters.
