Investigator wants the state to take over nine regional airports – including Skavsta

The state should expand its ownership and control of the Swedish airport system by taking over nine regional airports. This is proposed by the government’s special investigator Anders Flanking.

The proposal covers the airports in Arvidsjaur, Gällivare, Halmstad, Jönköping, Kalmar, Skellefteå, Stockholm Skavsta, Sundsvall and Örebro. The inquiry also proposes reformed and expanded state support, as well as allowing the state to procure more air routes if commercial services decline sharply or cease.

No final position on Bromma Airport is proposed. Instead, a review should be conducted in 2033 to evaluate the airport’s future.

Listed Arlandastad owns 90.1 percent of the capital in Skavsta.
