US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is expected to present a plan to reduce the number of posts intended for generals and admirals by 20 percent. Wall Street Journal reports, citing Pentagon officials.
The reduction is to be completed by January 1, 2027 at the latest and is twice as large as the 10 percent cut Hegseth ordered last year.
Hegseth has previously justified the cuts by saying that the top leadership of the US military needs to be streamlined.
