New York City Council has issued a subpoena against Elon Musk, requiring him or a representative of SpacexAI to testify in an investigation into safety risks associated with artificial intelligence. CNBC reports this.
The investigation will assess whether risks to public safety, cybersecurity, economic stability and privacy, among other areas, require immediate legislation. The hearing is scheduled for October 5.
Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Meta have also agreed to send representatives.
Spacex is valued at around 2 trillion dollars following its stock market listing in June.
