US President Donald Trump is expected to present Mesabi Metallics’ plans for a steel mill in Iowa costing around $15 billion. The Wall Street Journal reports.
According to the White House, the facility could begin production in 2030 and support more than 1,700 jobs.
The steel mill is planned to have an initial capacity of 7.5 million tonnes per year, with the possibility of later increasing it to around 10 million tonnes.
Mesabi Metallics, which is part of India’s Essar Group, recently opened a $2.5 billion iron ore mine in Minnesota.
