The Federal Reserve is working on a plan to raise the asset thresholds that trigger stricter supervision of U.S. banks. Reuters reports this, citing four sources with knowledge of the matter.
The highest threshold could be raised from 700 billion dollars to around 960 billion dollars, while certain requirements linked to the current 100 billion dollar threshold could be shifted to approximately 150 billion dollars.
The proposal is expected to be presented later this year, according to three sources, and could benefit, among others, U.S. Bancorp, Capital One, PNC Financial and Truist. The changes could also increase consolidation among midsize and regional banks.
